Course Overview

The Beginner Malay Language course is designed for absolute beginners with no prior experience in Malay.

This curriculum adopts a holistic approach, integrating language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) with cultural awareness, to ensure that students acquire not only foundational language proficiency but also an appreciation for Malay customs and way of life.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to participate in simple conversations, understand basic texts, and communicate effectively in common daily situations.

Course Objectives

Alignment with the Kerangka Standard Bahasa Melayu (KSBM)

The Malay Language Programme is developed with reference to the Kerangka Standard Bahasa Melayu (KSBM), Malaysia's official framework for standardising Bahasa Melayu proficiency.

KSBM provides a structured benchmark for the teaching, learning and assessment of Bahasa Melayu for both native and non-native speakers. Similar in purpose to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), KSBM was established to support the standardisation and internationalisation of the Malay language by providing a common reference for curriculum development, language proficiency and assessment.

By aligning with KSBM, our Malay Language Programme ensures that its curriculum is grounded in recognised educational standards while delivering practical, communicative and learner-centred experiences. This alignment reflects our commitment to providing learners with a structured pathway to develop confidence, proficiency and meaningful communication in Bahasa Melayu.
